Caldwell-Pope injures knee during loss to Wizards

Detroit Pistons will likely be without Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for the next few games, after he sprained his left knee in the third quarter of the 91-89 exhibition loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday.

The guard, who earlier scored 12 points in 24 minutes, failed to return to the game after falling underneath Washington’s basket.

Team coach, Stan Van Gundy said Caldwell-Pope will be looked at when they return to Detroit. He adds that they’ll re-evaluate the extent of his injury after a proper MRI.

Caldwell-Pope is currently averaging 16.7 points through Detroit’s first three pre-season games, after scoring 5.9 per game in his rookie season. He joins Will Bynum and Jodie Meeks on the sidelines, as the duo struggles with respective hamstring and back injuries.
