F1 drivers will wear helmet stickers to show support for their injured colleague, Jules Bianchi at the Russian GP this weekend.
According to a statement from Marussia F1 earlier this week, Bianchi is still in a critical but stable condition, following a crash during the Japanese GP.
Bianchi’s fellow Frenchman, Jean-Eric Vergne, championed the idea for the stickers. The Scuderio Toro Rosso driver, who is good friends with Bianchi, is said to be deeply affected by the tragedy.
The French Motor Sport Federation, FFSA says the stickers will be distributed to the entire paddock in Sochi, as teams from GP2, GP3 and F1 come together to support Bianchi.
Meanwhile, a Japanese specialist says it’s still too early to give a prognosis on Bianchi’s recovery. He adds that although he could still regain consciousness and recover completely, there’s still a possibility he could suffer from after-effects, depending on the severity of the injury and location of the damage.
