MHC: Datuk Nur Azmi to take legal action against Datuk Zaiton

Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) senior vice president Datuk Nur Azmi is ready to take legal action towards the newly elected sports commissioner, Datuk Zaiton Othman.

This comes alongside the recent MHC saga involving its constitution. MHC Vice President Puan Sri Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah recently requested for the old constitution to be ratified again before Datuk Zaiton herself claimed that the new constitution would be deemed invalid as it doesn’t fit existing rules and regulations.

The old constitution, which states that should the president be a male, the vice-president must be a female, would mean that Nur Azmi would not be eligible to defend his position at the AGM tomorrow.

Azmi is predictably against the idea of following the old constitution and he pointed out that the new constitution was already signed and approved by the previous sports commissioner, Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail. But at the same time, he’s considering the option of taking legal action against Datuk Zaiton, for her false accusations.

“I have been advised by my lawyer and we’ve agreed that the sports commissioner has made a mistake that gives us the avenue to take legal action against her,” Nur Azmi told Utusan Malaysia.

“In this case, there are plenty of unclear elements. I have a lot of evidence to prove the mistakes she’s made.”
