National hockey player Faizal Saari has been dropped from the squad that will be heading to Australia for a practice stint after his failure to report for training recently
The 24 year-old went missing after Malaysia’s triumph in the World Hockey League, before returning to training earlier today, only to find out that he will not be travelling to Australia.
National Team Manager Datuk Nur Azmi revealed that the decision was a form of disciplinary action against Faizal for his irresponsible actions, despite the player citing person issues as the reason behind his absence.
National coach Tai Beng Hai was reluctant to reveal more information on Faizal’s immediate future with the squad. He did mention that the training stint in Australia is part of their preparation for the upcoming Sultan Azlan Shah Cup as well as the third leg of the World Hockey League.
