KLFA to abort usage of Merdeka Stadium

The Football Association of Malaysia has ordered Kuala Lumpur FA to seek for another home ground after thorough inspection concluded that the Merdeka Stadium is not safe for usage just yet.

The City Boys utilized that stadium in their inaugural Premier League clash against Sabah last week and the pitch condition was largely criticized by many, including Sabah’s El Hadji Diouf.

FAM went to conduct thorough inspection after complaints were filed and it now appears that the pitch cannot be used for Premier League games until its condition is improved significantly.

“After analyzing the match commissioner’s report last week, we have decided to suspend usage of the Merdeka Stadium field. KLFA would have to improvise the pitch condition, and FAM would have to conduct another test in the future before allowing them to use it again,” FAM’s Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin told Harian Metro.

Datuk Hamidin went on to suggest that KLFA seek alternative measures for the time being, something that KLFA themselves confirmed later on.

“We have decided to use the UiTM Stadium for our Premier League clash against PKNS this Friday,” KLFA’s Ramlan Askolani said.
