We don’t want to present a weak LCW case – Khairy Jamaluddin

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin revealed that the delay of Datuk Lee Chong Wei’s doping hearing at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) was primarily caused by their desire to prepare a strong defense case.

Khairy claims that BAM has to evaluate various different aspects and that it has to be doe meticulously to ensure that Lee Chong Wei goes into the hearing with a solid backing.

“We only have one chance and if we do not get the results, he will be suspended and if that happens, he already said that he will retire from the sport,” Khairy told Utusan Malaysia.

Chong Wei was initially scheduled for a hearing in Amsterdam on December 8th 2014. However, the case was delayed at the request of his attorney, Mike Morgan. The hearing was then postponed to the 12th of January, but even that date was eventually postponed.

But Khairy claims that it will be sorted out by March and that he does not intend to delay it any further.

“I do not have the intentions of delaying it any further but we have to ensure that we are able present a strong case for our defence.”
