Terengganu forward Paulo Rangel believes that their 2-0 win over Selangor was a validation of what they are capable of accomplishing this year.
The Turtles are already being touted as challengers for the league title, and they certainly got their campaign off to a convincing start after last night’s victory over the Red Giants. And Paulo claims that everyone will now be wary of the threat posed by the East Coast side.
“Everyone could see last night as to how strong we are. We just need to continue working hard and stay humble because that way, we’ll be able to effectively reach our goals,” Rangel told FourthOfficial.com
“It’s always great to be able to start the season with a win and it will certainly give us more confidence for all the upcoming games.”
Ismail Faruqi opened the scoring in the first half, before Gustavo Lopez added a second through a sensational free kick from outside the box. Selangor created chances on several occasions but they were unable to convert them successfully.
That being said, Rangel paid tribute to his former team, claiming that they remain a strong side despite losing in Kuala Terengganu last night.
“Selangor is a great team with amazing professionals. But last night, we were the better side and even they appreciated our win as well,” he added.
“It’s never easy to play against a team with a long-standing tradition in the game, so we’re glad to have won and it looks like everything is on track.”
