The Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix is apparently still relevant to the growth of the nation despite the ongoing economic crisis with regards to the downfall of oil prices.
The plunge in oil prices has affected Malaysia severely, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak even announcing alterations to the country’s budget for this year. However, the Formula One GP will still go on as planned.
According to Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Razlan Razali, the Formula One GP impacts the country in many ways, including tourism and generally increasing the flow of cash within Malaysia.
“F1 has made Malaysia a very interesting destination in terms of value.” Datuk Razlan told Bernama.
“The continuation of F1 is very good for our tourism. I am very confident and positive that this will not be the last F1 GP in Malaysia”
That being said, Razlan also revealed that the renewal of Malaysian GP’s contract with FIA is in the hands of Petronas.
