Breaking: OKS set to be Sabah’s new head coach

Datuk Ong Kim Swee could potentially be appointed as Sabah’s new head coach for the upcoming season of Malaysian Premier League.

The East Malaysian side have been experiencing visible issues with the head coach position for quite some time. Despite his denial on Twitter, FourthOfficial.com did exclusively reveal that George O’Callaghan doesn’t possess the necessary paperwork to be registered as Sabah’s head coach.

The Irishman went on to claim that he was the Team Manager, despite being directly involved with coaching matters and it now appears that his days in Sabah are numbered, with less than a month left before the new season kicks off. He did not travel with the squad for their friendly game against Sarawak last Sunday, where Justin Ganai was named head coach for the game.

And now, rumour has it that Sabah have switched their attention towards Datuk Ong Kim Swee, who has extensive coaching experience and previously plied his trade with the Rhinos. He was also present during the friendly game between Sabah and Sarawak last Sunday.

But Ong also has an incentive to consider a fresh start after he was removed from his position as the head coach of Harimau Muda and given a new scouting role by FAM for this year.

Should he accept the offer, it will be a massive blow to FAM, who have seen a myriad of coaches under their supervision resign in recent times, including former U-17 head coach, S. Balachandran.
