Porsche chief executive officer Matthias Muller has reiterated the company’s stance on not being interested in joining the long list of Formula One constructors.
Recent speculations suggested that the German car-makers were monitoring the possibility of breaking into the Formula One market, but their R&D Chief Wolfgang Hatz recently revealed their stance of not having such desires, claiming that they are fully focused on their project with Le Mans series.
“Le Mans is a more attractive environment for us — there are more and more competitors and we learn more about the production of road cars,” Hatz told Autoweek.com
Since then, Muller has also reiterated that stance and according to him, Porsche does not see the unique value and benefit of the existing Formula One market.
Porsche are looking to be extremely competitive in 2015’s edition of Le Man, with ex-F1 drivers like Mark Webber and Nico Hulkenberg all part of their team roster. They joined the series last year; something that Muller sees no reason to regret.
“We have not looked back once and we are perfectly happy. We think LMP1 is the future,” he added.
