Rafael Nadal may have endured a frustrating 2014, but the Spanish star is certainly keen on restoring parity by kick starting the new year on a high.
With the Australian Open edging ever closer, Nadal completed his full recovery from an appendicitis operation recently and has already officiated a high-intensity training regime to prepare him for 2015’s inaugural Grand Slam in Melbourne.
“As ever after a period when things haven’t gone well, you’re a bit more eager to (prepare) well, although there is uncertainty about how things will go,” said the 28-year-old.
“I hope to use December to prepare well. I’ll have a month before things start in Australia, I hope and believe that’s enough to get me to my best level.”
Besides losing the last Australian Open final to Stan Wawrinka due to a back injury, Nadal was also knocked out of Wimbledon in the 4th round by teenager Nick Krygios.
His last competitive action was at the Basel Open in October, after which he succumbed to appendicitis.
