The Royal Malaysian Police Force arrested two individuals for possession of weapon during the AFF Suzuki Cup final last night.
Security in Malaysian football games has been questioned widely over the past two weeks after several Malaysian fans attacked Vietnamese supporters at the Shah Alam Stadium earlier this month.
However, security was heightened for last night’s affair and as a result, both individuals, who are Malaysians, were arrested efficiently.
According to Cheras police chief, ACP Chong Kok Sin, both men had knuckledusters and flares with them, though they were also wearing a sash that directed insults towards the police.
Malaysia suffered a frustrating end to their Suzuki Cup campaign, with Thailand clinching a 4-3 win on aggregate, despite Malaysia winning 3-2 last night.
