Roger Federer has been named Swiss sportsman of the year for the sixth time, ahead of countryman Stanislas Wawrinka who won the Australian Open in January.
Federer did not win a Grand Slam in 2014, though he did reach the final at Wimbledon and ended the season as World No. 2, ahead of Wawrinka who ended the year at No. 4.
Both players were part of the Davis Cup winning team for the Swiss, who won the event for the first time in their history.
The Swiss Davis Cup team was also named top Swiss sports team of the year.
33 year old Federer beat cross-country ski champion Dario Cologna, who won the award last year, and Wawrinka, who finished third.
He first bagged this award in 2003, followed by his successive wins 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2012.
Meanwhile, Olympic gold medal skier Dominique Gisin was voted the country’s top sportswoman for 2014.
