Dollah Salleh remains defiant despite first leg defeat to Thailand

Dollah Salleh sees no reason for his side to throw in the towel yet, despite falling a frustrating 2-0 defeat in the first leg of their Suzuki Cup final tie against Thailand last night.

The Malayan Tigers started the game well, but Kiatisuk Senamuang’s men visibly seized the upper hand after the break, and they eventually scored two goals in the last 20 minutes, completing a win that puts them in the driving seat.

However, Dollah Salleh, who was part of the Malaysians squad that lost the 1996 Tiger Cup to Thailand, believes that his side are more than capable of exhibiting a comeback victory, when the second leg kicks off at the Bukit Jalil Stadium this Saturday.

“We still have another 90 minutes,” Dollah told reporters after the game.

“Although it won’t be easy, especially since we suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg, anything can happen in football. We all know that. I’m confident that my boys will be able to perform more efficiently in the second leg. So let’s see.”

Despite a flurry of chances last night, Thailand broke the deadlock through Charyl Chappuis’s penalty, before Kroekrit applies a fine close range finish to make it 2-0 with just four minutes remaining on the clock.

Both teams will not lock horns at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on Saturday, with kick off slated for 8 p.m.
