Malaysia national team head coach Dollah Salleh is hopeful of having the experienced players within his squad spearhead his men against Thailand in the first leg of their Suzuki Cup final clash tonight.
The likes of Indra Putra, Shukor Adan and Amri Yahya all played a pivotal part in their resounding 4-2 win over Vietnam in the second leg of their semis last week, and Dollah believes that they could make the difference once again.
“Experience is our biggest asset in the final. We have Shukor to marshal the backline and Indra to lead the attack,” Dollah told The Star.
“I didn’t expect our team to get a result against Vietnam in the second leg of the semi-finals in Hanoi (Malaysia won 4-2 after losing the first leg 2-1). If our players can repeat the same performance, we can certainly get a result here.”
At the same time, Dollah has also been handed a timely boost, after Shukor Adan, who has been struggling with a back injury, was declared fit to be able to feature at the Rajamangala Stadium tonight.
“Shukor had a check-up at the hospital and our team doctor has cleared him to play. I hope he can continue his good form,” Dollah added.
