McLaren are set to announce the return of Fernando Alonso at a news conference later today, with British media tipping the team to retain Jenson Button as well.
The F1 team, who will be starting a new partnership with Honda and have yet to announce a title sponsor, invited reporters to their Woking headquarters for an ‘important and exclusive media event’.
No further details were given, but the invite was seen as evidence that they have finally finalized their driver line-up after a board meeting last week.
Button’s future has been on blurry for months, with the 34 year old out of contract and McLaren the only team left to reveal their drivers.
One thing for sure is the arrival of Fernando Alonso, whose return has yet to be confirmed officially by McLaren, despite being an open secret.
