Pahang captain Matt Davies has been deemed unavailable for the 2019 Asian Cup qualifying match against Lebanon at the Larkin Stadium tomorrow after suffering an injury in training.
The full-back tore his groin during a training session and joins a list of players (Aidil Zafuan, S. Kunanlan, Fazly Mazlan and Azrif Nasrulhaq) that will not feature due to injuries.
Rizal Ghazali is likely to start at right-back ahead of the injured Matt Davies and S. Kunanlan.
“I picked up the groin injury four days into training. I have a small muscle tear and I will be out for a week, so there’s no way I can play in the Lebanon match,” Matt said as quoted by The Star.
“I was looking forward to play because I wanted to show my abilities and impress the new coach.
“I’ll head back to KL after the match and fly to Australia for a short break with my family.”
Matt Davies offered his best wishes to the national team ahead of the Lebanon clash tomorrow.
