Kelantan FA skipper Badhri Radzi is hoping to be able to get on the pitch and make his Suzuki Cup debut as Malaysia prepare to take on Vietnam in the second leg of their semi final cruncher.
The experienced midfielder was included in Dollah’ squad for the competition, but has not been given playing time, with Hafiz Kamal, Gary Steven and Baddrol Bakthiar all ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, with Malaysia needing a different recipe to dismantle a technically astute Vietnam side, speculations suggests that Dollah may opt to utilize the Kelantan midfielder tonight; something that Badhri is really looking forward to, should it happen.
“I’m thrilled with the thought of finally making my debut in the AFF competition … I have waited long for this opportunity and I promise to give my all,” Badhri told The Star.
While plenty of fans have questioned Dollah’s decision to not use Badhri, the man himself conceded that there are certain flaws within his style of play, which can sometimes be a limiting factor on the pitch.
“I have to admit that defending is not my best quality and it might be the reason why I was not picked. Now we face a difference scenario … we need to win and I think I can offer more tactically in this match.
“Maybe I’ll be paired with Safiq … we might lack the chemistry as we rarely played together but it’s a do-or-die mission now and we just have to step up our game.”
