After six years of separation, Misbun Sidek is on the verge of sealing a return to Badminton Association of Malaysia to specifically become Datuk Lee Chong Wei’s personal coach.
According to Harian Metro, Misbun’s return is 90% confirmed, though both parties are currently ironing out several details with regards to his contract and job scope
“In essence, there is an agreement. This is about Chong Wei wanting Misbun’s services and at the same time, Misbun has to also lay out his demands and needs,” a source reportedly told Harian Metro.
“Misbun is only going to be focusing on Chong Wei and the other players will be monitored and trained by the other coaches. Chong Wei, on the other hand, has also promised to be fully committed under the tutelage of Misbun.”
This news will undoubtedly come as a major boost for Chong Wei’s hopes of triumphing at the World Championship in August. The legendary Malaysian shuttler was instrumental during Chong Wei’s early years of domination en route to becoming the world number one before multiple disagreements with key BAM individuals led to his departure in 2011.
