It’s been more than four years since Tunku Ismail first broke into the Malaysian football scene and he has gone on to develop a reputation for being a go-getter who isn’t fazed by any challenge that comes his way.
From helping JDT become the first Southeast Asian side to win the AFC Cup to spearheading the revamp of their facilities at Larkin and Padang Seri Gelam – TMJ has done it all. And his constant criticism of the previous FAM regime has also instilled a rather strict perception of him amongst local football fans.
Yesterday, we were treated to the lighter side of TMJ. First, he claimed that he would be dropping by the national team training session for ‘shopping’. But later that night, a hilarious photo of him ‘fishing’ for players, was uploaded on Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page!
Social media has been filled with plenty of rumours involving JDT and players from their rival clubs, including Kedah and Pahang. Baddrol Bakthiar, amongst many other names, has been linked with a potential move to the Southern Tigers.
Whether there’s truth in these rumours, we don’t know. But TMJ’s decision to play along and taunt fans of other clubs is certainly hilarious! In case you missed it, here’s the story on TMJ dropping the ‘shopping’ hint!
