The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed the arrest of at least three players from the Malaysia Premier League for match fixing.
The three players are said to be between the age of 26 and 29, and one of them is an import player. No names have been given out.
The players were charged for receiving between RM 10,000 and RM 30,000 from the bookies for a Premier League fixture.
A source from MACC said that apart from these three, there could be more players involved in the wrongdoing, and they will continue to investigate until all culprits are apprehended.
“This is a warning to all of you to better stop such activities.” MACC’s Deputy Commissioner Datuk Azam Baki said.
“There are certain people maybe MACC cannot detect but once we know we will investigate and the implication after that can result in a life ban.”
