Should FAS keep Andik Vermansyah?

The Andik Vermansyah dilemma continues to plague the Selangor Football Association (FAS) as they go back on forth on the decision to keep him.

Back in January, Selangor’s head coach P. Maniam announced the signing of Juliano Mineiro bolster his midfield, since Andik Vermansyah was out on knee injury.

This inflicted a further strain on the Andik Vermansyah controversy, as Mineiro was deemed as Andik’s replacement. Although Mineiro’s contract will end in June, this still puts Andik’s place in jeopardy.

FAS Secretary Rosman Ibrahim then clarified that they are not completely ditching Andik, they are still in talks with his agent to find a win-win solution. In fact, it is very likely that Andik will get back into the squad during the second half of the season, provided that he has completely recovered and it fit to play again.

However, in February, Andik told FootballTribe.com that he’s ready to go back to Persebaya after his contract ends in October.

“I have a good relationship with Persebaya. I’m in touch with the president. I want to go back, but I also know I have honour my contract with Selangor.”

Fast forward to the present, FAS team manager Rauf Ahmad told HMetro that Selangor still needs Andik and they want to keep him, but he has to pass his fitness test first.

“Andik has informed us that he has recovered, but we need him to come down here to do the tests. Until then, we cannot decide anything.” Raul Ahmad said.

“If he is fit, then we’d love to have him stay. But if he stays, then one of our other import players have to go. Either Mineiro or Astafei, but we’re not sure yet.”

“I can’t elaborate any further. Everyone has to fight to secure their position in the team.” he added.

Is it worth for FAS to lose Mineiro or Astafei for Andik, who has made it clear he wants to go back to Persebaya? Let us know!
