Singapore football fans can now enjoy free streaming for the Singapore League (S. League) matches this season.
Wait, how?
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President’s Initiatives Programme has a Live Streaming Platform project which has made this venture possible. The aim of this venture is to help their member associations “strengthen the game in their respective countries”.
Say hello to… mycujoo
The streaming will be done via mycujoo.tv, a popular video streaming website where you can watch football and also create your own TV and content rights. Through the match streaming, mycujoo’s also aims to lift amateur and semi-professional clubs by giving them equal coverage as the top tier clubs.
“The AFC approached us (with this) and because we have been looking at introducing live streaming for quite some time, this came at the right time,” a Football Association of Singapore (FAS) rep told TODAY.
“About two weeks ago, mycujoo came down for the first time and gave us the resources needed. The streaming is under the responsibility of the FAS, while they will provide technical support… the plan is to be self-sufficient (eventually).”
Some of the member associations that have jumped onboard this project are Bhutan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Chinese Taipei, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Oman, Laos, India, the Philippines, Afghanistan and Jordan.
What matches can we stream on mycujoo?
As of now, Singapore football fans can catch S.League matches TV every Friday, broadcasted by official television broadcasters, Mediacorp, so mycujoo will only be streaming one additional match every week.
As it gains traction and popularity, then they will move on to stream every match starting next season. There are also plans to include exclusive commentary for the streamed matches.
Apart from matches from the S.League, there are also plans to stream matches from the National Football League and Women’s National League.
However, fans aren’t too thrilled about it
