The incident took place when Burks tried to go for a lay up on a fast break, and Afflalo was attempting to stop it in the fourth quarter of Denver’s 103-101 victory over the weekend. While attempting to reject his lay up, Afflalo ended up hitting Burks in the head.
“I was trying to go for a block, pretty much,” Afflalo said.
“I’m not trying to be a tough guy, not trying to commit a hard foul. Things that ensue after that is all verbal in front of the refs and a lot of people. To me that means nothing. Honestly I just thought I committed a hard foul and he finished the game so he was OK.”
Despite the incident, Afflalo will not be suspended by the NBA and he will be allowed to play in Denver’s upcoming games in the league.
He is not suspended, and will be available tonight for the #Nuggets game against Portland
