Selangor FA ditches Andik in favour of two new signings

After three faithful years with Selangor, a three-month injury break has cost midfielder Andik Vermansyah a place in the squad.

The 25-year old Indonesian was recovering from his posterior cruciate ligament injury which he picked up during the AFF Suzuki Cup finals last year. This was a huge blow for Selangor, as Andik was a fireball on the pitch. With him blazing on the wings, Selangor finished fifth in the Super League last season.

Now that he’s back from rehab and ready for action, Andik was surprised to find that his name was missing from the confirmed list of players for Selangor FA this season. This could be the result of two new singings by coach P. Maniam, Victor Astafei from Romania and Juliano Mineiro Fernandes from Timor Leste.

The signing of Astafei and Fernandes also means that the import quota has been filled up.

“If it’s true that Selangor has filled up their import quota for this season, then I’m upset. I’m disappointed that I was not given any notice or haven’t heard anything from Selangor.” an irate Andik told Kosmo.

“I have spent three years in Selangor, where I’ve given only my best for the club, and I also treat Selangor like my home.”

In fact, Andik reveals that he has also turned down some big offers from both Indonesian and Malaysian clubs because of his loyalty for Selangor.

“This is so unprofessional.”Andik added, hoping that all his burning questions will be answered by Selangor FA very soon.

Last Saturday, Selangor played their debut Super League match without Andik Vermansyah. They won 2-0 against Penang, with goals scored by Adam Nor and Francis Forkey Doe.
