The Malaysia women’s hockey team has effectively marched into the final of the Women’s Hockey World League after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Italy earlier today.
The Italian hockey team is ranked number 15 in the world, and have not conceded a goal in at least four matches – which made the task a difficult one for Malaysia. But they battled hard to secure a 2-2 draw, before clinching a 2-1 win on penalties.
Malaysia will go on to face Ireland in the final, while Italy will face Wales for the 3rd-4th classification match.
More to come…
