Mohammed Ghaddar is one of three anticipated import players set to bolster Kelantan FA’s (KAFA) squad for the 2017 Super League season.
The 33-year old Lebanese is not new to Malaysian football. He joined Kelantan back in November 2011 on a two-year contract. During his stint at the east coast club, he scored a whopping 21 goals in 32 appearances.
After that, he joined Felda United after refusing to extend his contract with Kelantan. During his one year with Felda, he only managed 3 goals in 7 appearances, as his career was plagued by injury. Eventually, Felda released him, and he went back to his former club, Kelantan in 2014.
While he was at it, he became notorious among Malaysian fans for his bad temper; and also known to be quite selfish.
Now that he’s back with Kelantan once again for the 2017 season, he’s determined to turn over a new leaf. Ghaddar wants to revamp his image among the fans, and shatter his “bad temper” and “bad boy” reputation. He promised to stay calm on the pitch.
“I’m a new Ghaddar now. I’m not the same “bad boy” I was back in 2012 and 2014. I am determined to help Kelantan perform better this year, even if we face the strongest teams like JDT, Kedah, Perak, Felda, and Pahang.” he told Harian Metro.
As for his personal target, the Lebanese striker said he will not be unrealistic, as he is up against other talented and skilled import players across the country. However, he wants to help Kelantan win at least one trophy this year.
Kelantan will play their first 2017 Super League game against Melaka this Saturday, 21 January in Kota Bharu.
