“We are desperate to win” – Dollah Salleh

Dollah Salleh has rallied for support from the fans as his side prepares to head into their do or die clash against Singapore later today.

Malaysia are desperately in need of a victory to book their spot in the semis alongside Thailand, having only picked up one point from their first two fixtures, but anything lesser than a win will see Singapore progress at their behest.

And Dollah himself knows, that the task will not be easy. They will playing the match at the 55,000 seater National Stadium in Singapore, which could potentially be packed with fans tonight, and Dollah promised that his men will be giving it their all.

“Desperately we need a win to make sure that we qualify, but I believe it’s not easy,” Dollah said.

“Having said that, we will give it our very best and try to give something to the Malaysian fans.”

Singapore will head into the clash, knowing that a draw would be enough for them to progress. But they will be without the presence of Baihakki Khaizan and Shahdan Sulaiman, something that Stange considers to be a massive lost.

“Baihakki and Shahdan are key players but they are out and we have to substitute both. We still have 20 players available. We will see how we will manage that.

“We can adjust our team, we are playing at home and we have to find a way. It’s a miss to lose two experienced players but I think we are well prepared and we know what we have to do.

“We are looking forward to having a great football day in Singapore. That’s exactly what our game needs – a packed stadium, a derby, committed players. That’s football on a level which we need in this part of the world.

“It’s the first match for Singapore in a fully-packed stadium here and I’m excited. Hopefully both teams can perform on a very good level to promote our game and to win the hearts of Singaporean football fans.”
