Tengku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) has an irrefutable love and passion for football, which is reflected in many ways.
Apart from molding Johor Darul Takzim into one of the finest clubs in Malaysia, he is also constantly looking for ways to meliorate the quality of Malaysian football. While he’s at it, stepping up as the FAM (Football Association of Malaysia) doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
But of course, it al depends on the members of the governing body who have the power to decide the future.
“I know before this I said I wasn’t interested, but many members have made it known that they want me to step in as President.” TMJ said.
“I have yet to decide, but I’m just an honest man who wants to take Malaysian football to the next level, I’m not doing this for the fame or position. I love football and I want the best for it.”
“February is a long way to go.” he added. TMJ has made his intentions clear now, but decision is conditional on the member’s vote.
Ever since former FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah announced his resignation, FAM has been fumbling to look for a rightful heir to the throne. Many names have come up since, like Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, PM Najib, Tan Sri Annuar Musa and so on.
Will TMJ be the right choice to mount the throne? He is a prince (who loves football) after all…
