Johor DT boss Mario Gomez has released a public statement to refute speculations linking them with a move for Kedah defender Rizal Ghazali.
The 24 year-old has been linked with a move to the Southern Tigers, after impressing throughout 2016. He even went on to play a starring role in Kedah’s Malaysia Cup final triumph over Selangor last week.
But while Gomez did acknowledge Rizal’s worth as a player, he was also quick to insist that the fullback is not part of his plans for 2017.
“Recently, there have been rumours linking JDT to Kedah’s Rizal Ghazali. He’s a good player, but he’s not a part of our plans,” Gomez said, via a statement that was issued on the Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page.
“We plan to maintain the current defensive set-up, which I believe is the best I’ve had so far. I’m pleased that they all want to play for JDT. So, don’t spread rumours or cheap publicity to sell your papers,” he added.
