Pahang fans, you can now sleep in peace!
The Elephants have officially secured their MSL status for one more year after FAM announced that it would be punishing Kedah FA for fielding a suspended player in the MSL bout against Pahang last August.
Rizal Ghazali was suspended for the clash, having picked up three yellow cards prior to that, though Kedah FA went on to field him in that particular match. FAM retrospectively evaluated the situation and have opted to hand Pahang a default 3-0 win in that match, allowing them to leap into 8th spot on the standings, merely two days before the final match of the season.
Besides that, Kedah FA have also been handed a RM5,000 fine for violating FAM rules. However, this punishment does not affect Kedah’s position on the league table, as they were already nine points ahead over fourth-placed Kelantan, prior to this.
The big news however, comes for Pahang. This news means they are now on 23 points, which officially takes them out of the relegation battle. It also means the battle has now been downsized to only four teams – Sarawak, PDRM, Penang and Terengganu.
Amazingly, all four teams will face each other this weekend – the final matchday of the season. Sarawak will host PDRM in Kuching, while Terengganu will travel to Penang for what should be an absolute cracker.
