Tottenham Hotspur to engage with Malaysian fanbase

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has launched dedicated Malay-language social media channels in recognition of its growing Malaysian fan base.

The Premier League club has an estimated global following of over 180 million, with over 100 Official Supporters Clubs in 40 countries across the world, with over 90 per cent of 5.6 million page likes on Facebook coming from international fans.

In Malaysia, localisation comes on the back of continued growth in the Club’s fan base including Asia where Tottenham Hotspur has an estimated 80 million fans and a long-term commercial partnership with Hong Kong-based insurance firm, AIA.

Legendary former players such as Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles have had a regular presence in Far Eastern countries such as China and Malaysia as the Club works with AIA to develop grassroots football and promote health and wellbeing across the Asia-Pacific region.

Fans wishing to access the Club’s social media in Malay can now follow Tottenham Hotspur on Twitter @Spurs_MAS and the Club will be delivering geo-targeted Facebook posts covering the most relevant news tailored for the region.

The launch of Malaysian social media channels forms part of a wider localisation programme as the Club works to engage with its international fan base through a broad portfolio of media channels, with more developments planned throughout the season.

This has included the creation of social media channels in four other additional languages – Thai, Indonesian, Indian and Spanish – as part of an improved offering to a multilingual fan base. Supporters can now follow the Club on Twitter with @SPURS_THA, @Spurs_ID , @Spurs_India , @Spurs_ES respectively.
