It continues to get better, doesn’t it?
Latif Romly has clinched Malaysia’s third gold medal at the Paralympic Games – breaking the world record twice, en route to sealing the incredible win.
The long-jumper publicly spoke of his desire to break the world record, prior to his departure to Rio de Janeiro, but tonight’s achievement undoubtedly exceeds his own expectations!
His first attempt was deemed to be a fault, but Latif bounced back by clocking 7.47m in his second attempt, breaking the world record for the first time. He went on to record a distance of 7.54m right after that, breaking the world record, yet again!
But while he dropped the ball in his fourth attempt, Latif bounced back to pull off an incredible distance of 7.60m with his fifth attempt, shattering the world record for the third time in Rio de Janeiro!
To put things into perspective, the national record for Malaysia’s able-bodied long-jump is 7.88m. That alone, speaks volumes eh?
