It’s official, ladies and gentlemen.
Johor Darul Ta’azim have officially secured their third consecutive Malaysia Super League title, marking a significant milestone in the Southern Tigers’ football revolution.
Mario Gomez and his men clinched a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Terengganu, allowing them to officially push Felda United out of the equation and wrap up the title, with two games left in the season.
Despite a tight first half, Jorge Diaz’s spot kick allowed JDT to go into the break with a 1-0 lead. Terengganu threatened to equalize on several occasions after the break, but the defensive partnership of Aidil and Marcos Antonio, coupled with Izham Tarmizi’s composure in between their sticks, effectively kept Issey Nakajima-Farran and Co at bay.
With seven minutes left on the clock, JDT were awarded their second spot-kick of the night, and Safiq Rahim made no mistakes by firing home to make it 2-0 at Larkin. Merely two minutes later, Jorge Diaz added his second goal of the night to effectively help JDT secure the title with style.
More to come…
