Datuk Ong Kim Swee has officially named his 24-man Malaysian squad for the upcoming friendly clash against Indonesia.
With Safiq Rahim, Aidil Zafuan and S. Kunanlan officially retiring and several other names facing an unfortunate spell on the sidelines, Ong was forced to ring the changes for this particular match.
He has made 13 changes to the squad, with the likes of Adam Nor Azlin, S. Veenod, Amer Saidin and Irfan Fazail all being included in the team. Perak’s young goalkeeper Hafizul Hakim has also been handed a call-up after impressing in between their sticks throughout 2016. There was also room for Pahang’s Matthew Davies and Sarawak’s Ronny Harun.
Meanwhile, only 11 players were retained from their Tour of Ocenia earlier this year – Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, Fadhli Shas, Khair Jefri Jones, Azrif Nasrulhaq Badrul Hisham, Baddrol Bakhtiar, Ahmad Fakri Saarani, Abdul Latiff Suhaimi, Brendan Gan, Amri Yahyah, Zaquan Adha Abd Radzak dan Ahmad Hazwan Bakri.
Here’s the full squad list:
All 24 players are required to report for national duty at Wisma FAM on the 29th of August, with the exception of Matt Davies, Adam Nor Azlin and Safawi Rashid – all of whom are required to only report for duty after the Malaysian U-22’s friendly clash against Bahrain, on the 31st of August.
The Malaysia vs Indonesia clash is scheduled to take place at the Manahan Stadium in Solo, Indonesia, on the 6th of September.
