It looked like a normal routine for Armenia’s Andranik Karapetyan when he attempted to carry 195kg in the clean and jerk event to hunt for a bronze in the 77kg category.
He ended up injuring himself in the process, as his left elbow seemed to be protruding out after he dropped the weights in agony to receive assistance from the medical staffs.
Karapetyan was later rushed to a nearby hospital via an ambulance and his teammates were visibly upset after the horrific incident.
Kazakhstan’s Nijat Rahimov clinched the gold in the event, while Lyu Xiaojun of China won silver and Egypt’s Mohamed Mahmoud got bronze.
