National weightlifter, Mohd Hafifi Mansor has expressed a strong desire to claim center stage at Riocentro – Pavilion 2 to prove his worth in his Olympic debut.
The Terengganu-born athlete can’t conceal his happiness after missing out on Beijing 2008 and London 2012 due to injuries.
According to Hafifi, his main objectives is to break the national record for 69kg and at least making it to the top 8 in Rio.
Besides that, he is having a good preparation which will boost his confidence for the main event, despite knowing that he’ll face some tough competition.
“This Olympic participation is very meaningful for me personally, and my mother has waited for a long time to see me in action at the prestigious sporting event.
“I couldn’t join the Olympics before this due to injuries and now I’m able to after going through some hardships.
“As for now, my preparations are going well in China and I hope the whole of Malaysia will pray for my success at the Olympics,” he told Utusan Malaysia.
The Malaysian Weightlifting Federation named Hafifi as Malaysia’s representative in Rio after securing a spot in Uzbekistan on April, making him the first weightlifter to compete at the Olympics after Amirul Hamizan Ibrahim in Beijing 2008.
