National junior squash player, Ng Eain Yow will be aiming to clinch his second professional title when he competes in the Contrex Cup in Hong Kong.
The 18-year-old second seed will play a qualifier in the first round. The winner will face eighth seed Henry Leung of Hong Kong in the quarter-finals.
Three-time British Junior Open winner Eain Yow, who reached a career-best ranking of world no. 148 after getting into the quarter-finals of last month’s New Zealand Classic, is hoping for a good confidence boosting run for the World Junior Championship in Poland.
“I had a good stint in New Zealand. I gained a lot of experience competing and training against different players. Reaching a career-high ranking also helps my confidence level,” he said, as quoted by Star Online.
“The Contrex Cup and Sukma will be my last tournaments before the world juniors. It will be good to win another title.”
“I need to be at my best for the world juniors as there are a number of strong contenders,” added Eain Yow, who won his first professional title in the second leg of the Malaysian Squash Circuit in April.
Eain Yow is expected to be seeded second in the world juniors and he’ll also lead Malaysia’s team in the team event alongside Mohd Farez Izwan, Ong Sai Hung and Marcus Sim.
