Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has hit back at the transfer saga involving Selangor defender Azrif Nasrulhaq, with reports saying he wants to be released so he could join JDT.
In a Facebook posting on the club’s official page by outspoken Tunku Ismail, also known as TMJ by fans, claimed that the 25-year-old defender has lost his desire to play for the Red Giants anymore.
“I was informed… (that) Azrif Nasrulhaq who has sent a letter to Selangor FA informing them that he no longer has the desire to represent the club anymore.”
“I was also informed that FAS promised Azrif and his family that they will release him in the mid transfer window,” he explained.
“I have always been impressed by the Selangor football team since I was young and I have high respect for the Selangor Fans. However, when politicians run clubs for their own personal interests, clubs will not progress.
“Clubs need to understand that we run a football club and not a detention camp. Should there be any club who wishes to buy any of my players, my door is always open,” he added.
Rumors has been running wild lately with the Malaysian defender asking to leave Selangor, and his father was willing to pay off his contract which is slated to run until the end of 2017.
This has happened before as Azrif had been reportedly close to signing with the Southern Tigers during pre-season, despite signing a new deal with Selangor just weeks before that. He ended up staying at Selangor, with JDT attributing the poaching to the work of a rogue scout. He was sacked by the club and his identity was never revealed.
