Northern Ireland fan dies on the stands during Ukraine clash

The travelling Green and White Army have been struck with another tragedy after a supporter passed away during Northern Ireland’s 2-0 win over Ukraine in Lyon last night.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that the 64 year-old man collapsed in the stands of the Parc Olympique Lyonnais after the hour mark and immediately died.

There have been reports suggesting the medical staff in the stadium attempted their best to resuscitate the supporter, but unfortunately failed at the back of the Northern Ireland stand.

The death became the second tragedy to strike the befall the group of Northern Ireland fans in France, after 24 year-old Darren Rodgers was killed hours after the game against Poland.

Darren Rodgers fell about 26 feet over a barrier on the Promenade des Anglais and through the roof of a restaurant in Nice last week, which caused severe heartbreak for his family.

The Northern Ireland fans paid an emotional tribute to Rodgers on the 24th minute last night.
