This game signifies the start of the second batch of group fixtures and the goal posts start to move in terms of teams knowing what they simply cannot afford to happen. Early indications suggest a minimum of 3 points or at worst case 2 points with a respectable goal difference will be required to make it through to the knock out phase.
That, of course, is assuming UEFA do not carry out their threat to throw out Russia and England before the group stage is completed, which would presumably see all bar one of the third place teams go through if Group B is left with only two ‘active’ nations.
Assuming the fans behave, this is a game that neither Russia or Slovakia can afford to lose. Even before you take that blatant fact into account, games between the two nations have been historically tight affairs. The last six meetings have all featured less than 2.5 goals and that has to be the sensible play here.
#BestBets – Russia vs Slovakia = UNDER 2.5 GOALS
