The 22 year old is currently the Williams reserve driver while Ericsson is joining from Caterham, who recently went into administration and was notably missing from the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, last week.
Nasr, who is second in the GP2 series in which he has four wins this season, said he was proud to take the step up to Formula One.
“It is a very important step in my career to sign with the Sauber F1 Team for the 2015 Formula One World Championship,” he said.
“This is an unforgettable moment that I owe to all of those who have supported me – my family, my friends, my sponsors, my teams and my country. Today the dream has come true.”
His fans were more than excited for him, wishing him well across various social media platforms.
