Jose Mourinho has made his first signing as Manchester United’s new manager, and Kuala Lumpur FA fans should be familiar with the name!
Ricardo Formosinho, who had a short stint as KL’s head coach last year, has been drafted into Mourinho’s backroom staff, with the 59 year-old being appointed as Man United’s new scout.
Formosinho has previously worked with Mourinho in two separate stints. He was part of Mourinho’s coaching staff in Porto’s glorious season in 2003-2004, where they ended up winning the Champions League as well.
He went on to try his luck in management, before returning to be a part of Mourinho’s scouting team with Real Madrid. His first venture in Southeast Asia came in 2010, as Formosinho took charge of Vietnamese side, Long An.
He also had a short stint with Becamex Binh Duong in 2011, before returning to Southeast Asia in 2015, to become Kuala Lumpur’s head coach. Unfortunately, his Malaysian stint merely lasted for three months, as he was sacked after a string of poor performances.
