Johor DT boss Mario Gomez has revealed that his players will be keeping a close eye on PKNS attacker Juan Cobelli, when both teams face each other in the FA Cup final tomorrow.
Cobelli previously played under Mario Gomez during his time at Deportivo Cuenca in the Ecuadorian League and recently claimed to be very familiar with Gomez’ favoured tactics.
But Gomez himself has asked the JDT players to nullify the threat posed by Cobelli, pointing out that the 28 year-old forward can be dangerous on a good day.
“Yes, I know Cobelli from my time in Ecuador. He’s a good player definitely and he’ll be very dangerous for PKNS tomorrow, ” Gomez told reporters in a press conference earlier today.
“But of course, we will be careful and my players will keep an eye on him,” he added.
Meanwhile, skipper Safiq Rahim maintained that JDT will doing everything in their power to lift the FA Cup for the first time since 1998, though he insisted that reaching the final is already an achievement for the team.
“There’s pressure in every game we play, whether it’s a final or just a regular match. We definitely want to win but regardless of who wins tomorrow, being here is already a good achievement for both teams.
“But of course, my teammates and I will be giving 100% tomorrow and hopefully we can do well and end the night with an FA Cup triumph,” he added.
The FA Cup final clash between Johor DT and PKNS is scheduled to take place at the Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow, with kick-off slated for 8.45 PM.
