The Manchester United team coach (not Louis van Gaal, but the bus) was brutally attacked by West Ham United fans prior to their English Premier League match at Boleyn Ground.
The kick-off time was postponed by 45 minutes after the incident occurred near Upton Park in what was regarded as the most important night for Manchester United this season because a win would safely ensure them qualification to the UEFA Champions League.
The Hammers fans threw eggs, glass bottles and tin cans at the bus, which broke the tint on the windows. They continued to light up flares on the streets regardless of the police.
This was not the first time that Manchester United have been delayed in London — they were held up in traffic and their match against Tottenham Hotspur was delayed by 30 minutes.
West Ham United went on to win the match 3-2 after coming back from a goal down to score two goals in five minutes to put a dent on Manchester United’s Champions League hopes.
