#MeeBaksoMourinho – Indonesia hunting after the ‘Special One’?

Indonesia Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi has confirmed that he has held talks to appoint ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho as the national team manager.

The Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), who were banned by FIFA in 2015 from taking part in international matches due to the government’s involvement in the football league. Imam Nahrawi feels an experienced manager will bring the glory days back to Indonesia.

“This has been discussed with President Joko Widodo and Erick Thohir, who is the chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee,” Imam Nahrawi said as quoted by Sinar Harian.

Eric Thohir, who is currently the owner of Serie A team Inter Milan and has worked with Jose Mourinho for three seasons between 2008 and 2010, said that signing the Portuguese coach would be a dream come true but the only issue would come down to the salary amount.

“Erick told me that his (Mourinho) salary is around Rp250 billion (£13million) a year.

“However, Erick said we will be looking at Guus Hiddink if we fail to get Jose Mourinho.”
