Malaysian shuttler Lee Chong Wei clinched the Asian Badminton Championship title after beating Chen Long in a closely-contested final earlier today.
The former world number one came into the final in buoyant mood, after beating arch rival Lin Dan in the semi-finals yesterday.
In fact, the confidence allowed Chong Wei to get his bout against Chen Long off to a positive start. He clinched the first set 21-17, silencing the legion of home fans in Wuhan.
But Chen Long bounced back as expected, and claimed victory in the second set, beating Chong Wei 21-15.
However, Chong Wei remained composed and showcased his superiority in the rubber set, completing a 21-13 win to win the Asian title for the first time in 10 years.
