Nicol David remains positive despite fifth consecutive loss to El Sherbini

Former world number one squash player, Datuk Nicol Ann David succumbed to a 5th consecutive defeat at the hands of Nour El Sherbini in the NAZA PSA Women’s World Squash Championships

The 8-time winner lost the first set in a tiebreaker, but she bounced back to outclass El Sherbini in the second set. But the Egyptian squash player eventually bounced back in the third and fourth set to clinch a 12-14, 11-4, 3-11, 7-11 win, last night.

“I’m definitely disappointed with my performance but I need to remain positive and look forward as there are plenty of other challenges awaiting me,” the 32 year-old told Utusan Malaysia.

The world number 5 went on to confirm that she will not be retiring from squash anytime soon and even proclaimed that she’ll be competing in the Hong Kong Open soon.

“I’m not considering retirement. I want to play for at least five more years, as long as I’m physically able to do so,” she added.
