Terengganu Youth, Sports and Human Resource committee chairman Datuk Rozi Mamat has expressed his disappointed on the lack of opportunities given to Juan Morales this season.
Juan Jose Morales, 34, was signed in February to replace Paulo Rangel as their final foreign player, after the Brazilian joined Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) in December last year. However, the ex-Atletico All Boys has been warming the bench all season long for The Turtles.
“We signed Juan Jose Morales to help improve the team, but he has spent most of his time on the bench this season,” Datuk Rozi Mamat said earlier today as quoted by Sinar Harian.
“He has the ability to take Terengganu further but he has not been given the chance to do so.
“We spent so much on him not to see his resources being wasted,” Rozi Mamat concluded.
Juan Jose Morales has scored more than 200 goals throughout his lengthy career.
WHAT DO WE THINK?
The 34 year-old striker has been regularly coming on as a substitute all season long and only featured less than 30 minutes during every Malaysia Super League (MSL) tie. Could it be because he is not fit? Does Terengganu’s style fit Issey Nakajima-Farran and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha instead of the Argentinian? Did Morales sign for The Turtles just for the wages? Juan Jose Morales needs to step up and train harder and show Mike Mulvey that he can be a regular starter for his side. He needs to show the initiative on and off the pitch and play to his advantages. He is big, good in the air and can hold off opponents. When he is given the chance, the February signing will need to prove himself to Mike Mulvey, or else his career at Terengganu would come to an abrupt end.
