The Shah Alam stadium, which is currently undergoing infrastructure and pitch upgrades, is due to be completed by the end of this month, as guaranteed by Selangor’s Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The stadium was first scheduled to be used last week for The Red Giants’ Malaysia Super League fixture against Kedah, though it was moved to the MP Selayang Stadium, due to a delay in completing the upgrades.
According to Azmin, who is also the President of the Football Association of Selangor (FAS), the 2016 Sultan of Selangor’s Cup match will be the first event to be held in the refurbished stadium, on the 7th of May.
“Besides the field, other infrastructures such as the roof, seating, and flood lights are also being upgraded. ,” he told Sinar Harian.
“All of these upgrades are guaranteed to be completed by the end of April and can be used for both domestic and international football events,” he explained.
He was also quick to add that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is satisfied with the stadium’s refurbishments.
A total of RM12 million was allocated for the whole process.
